It all started in 2001 on an island, Little Gasparilla, off the Gulf of Mexico where his family would take weekend trips to. There he met an elementary school teacher and local artist, named Linda Soderquist. she taught him all about turtles and their importance to the costal ecology. On the lsland, she kept care of sea turtle nests. Soon, Zander was monitoring turtles too.
He was so facinated by what he saw on the beaches and inspired by Linda, that he decided to create his own eduactional program. This program would teach children (and adults) the importance of sea turtles. It is important to protect these gentle, loving creatures.
